I wanna become a CCIE by the end of this year!!

I am a network engineer woking in Tokyo and desparately wanting to get a CCIE to raise my salary and hopefully make a career change so I can obtain more job satisfaction.

To get a CCIE, you've got to study unbelievably wide range of areas in networking technology. To keep my motivation up, I will use this blog and leave study memo here. If I stop, people will know that Ive given up and I hate that. I'll try to take notes of every effort I make until I pass the CCIE R&S exam. This notes should include,

-How much money I spend on studying for this exam:

-What text books I use:

-What Lab training, Online-Rack and other material I use and what I think of them and what I recommend:

-How many hours I study every week or every month:

-What problems I encounter while studying for CCIE and how I resolved it.

-Things I had hard time understanding before and got an answer for later.
-Things I cannot understand yet and want someone's help with.

-Personal web sites or blogs explain network technologies that I find useful for Cisco Exams.

-The new information that I hear from CCIE holders like Mr. Gene who is a respected CCIE trainer based in Tokyo.

-Tech tutorials for the certifications that I already passed which include CCNA, CCNP and CCIP.

I will keep writing this blog until I get the CCIE. My first step would be to pass the written exam. The written exam has just been updated from version 1.0 to 2.0.

I may go for the second CCIE if I pass the first. Well, but it's too early to think of the second one. I'll focos on the first CCIE and see what happens next.

I hope this blog will give anyone interested in getting CCIE valuable information. If there is anyone studying for CCIE, any comment from anywhere in the world is welcome. Let's get certified together!!!

Hello Nadeem,

Thank you very much for posting a comment.

Looks like you have already equipped youself with nice set of CCIE gears!

Spending 4000 pounds (equivalent of about 800000 Japanese yen)on those equipment tells me you are serious about passing CCIE R&S and more.

I probably cannot afford to spend that much on a CCIE lab, but I am very serious about this exam as well.

>I have a wife and one cute little 4 month baby so >its tough, but the wife is understanding.
It's encouraging to know there is someone like you out there stuyding hard for CCIE.

>I will keep you posted on what I am doing
Yes, please keep me posted on how you are going with studying for this exam. I'd really appreciate your input.

Have you decided when you are gonna take the exam?

Best Regards,
AG

Hi,
Not much activity on the board since I last posted! I have been extremely busy at work - and am still at work at 10pm. My CCIE R&S studies based on my programme have taken a back seat as I have been covering technologies relevant to my work - i.e. MPLS (CCIP exam), OSPF, Juniper M Series, VPLS, Broadband Architectures - i.e. RFC1483 IRB and RBE, PPPoE, PPPoA - can you tell I work for a telecoms company? I have been covering the CCIE Service Provider syllabus - read about 1/4 of the books recommended by Cisco. My head now really hurts!
Regards,
Nadeem Khan
