It seems that the competition in the network industry is becoming so harsh these days. I think Cisco's strategy is to bring the customers to build their network with just Cisco products because Cisco has very wide range of products which can satisfy various network needs.

However, there seem to be several companies that are doing better than Cisco in specific technology areas. If I am a network manager of a big enterprise, I would probably try to avoid becoming totally dependent on just one vendor if I have a choise.

Because any product of any vendor could have crtitical security holes or critical bugs that could cause the network to stop even for a short period of time, it is way too risky to build your entire network with one vendor no matter great credibility the product has.

Others might say what about the problem of interoperability? Well, that what internal engineers have to excersize their skills, knowledge and experiences to examine them!!!
