Pick up news: The IETF installed a new leader.
The online article in NW fusion reports that:
the group [IETF] that prides itself on rough consensus and
running code is facing challenges such as financial difficulties and
declining attendance. These challenges are forcing the group to
change.

From the user's point of view, if the competion with the other standard body is forcing the IETF to speed the thier standardizatio process. It's a pretty good news.
